The focus on Wolverine could be another contributing factor as to why Spider-Man 2 didn’t get any new story DLC. Facing multiple iconic villains like Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and Lizard, their strength and resolve will be tested as they face these dangerous threats.

Obviously, since the game hasn’t come out yet, we can’t give you a summary of Spider-Man 2 (we also wouldn’t want to spoil your next adventure). The mid-credits scene reveals that Harry is to be released from his stasis pod, even though his health is still unstable. Peter puts Miles to the test, going off to Symkaria for a couple of weeks to help MJ with her work as a reporter there and leaving Miles in charge of protecting the city, leaving him as the sole Spider-Man in NYC for the first time. Miles reveals to Peter in the credits’ scene that he has gained spider-like powers after he was bitten by a spider that escaped Osborn’s personal lab. Insomniac Games has announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released for PC on January 30, 2025, via Epic Games Store and Steam. The fact that she takes away all the Spider-Bots implies that she has ulterior motives, especially since she hints that Miguel, the villain of Across the Spider-Verse, is looking for them across the universes. The involvement of the Spider-Verse was foreshadowed by the mid-air Spider-Bots, which have the hexagon portal shape around them.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s map is far more expansive than its predecessor. In fact, it’s about twice as large, with new areas of New York City added in the sequel, including Brooklyn, Queens, and the East River. Traversing New York City feels more exhilarating in the sequel, thanks to introducing the new web wings that make getting around easier and more fun. You can’t help feeling that traversal is faster in the sequel, too, partially due to the web wings. Slinging webs will never get boring, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to switch things up now and then.

Spider-Man 3 is shaping up to be all about the Green Goblin and a returning Doc Ock. They are two of the greatest Spider-Man villains, but they’ll need a good supporting cast to back them up. Or else they’ll have to rely on characters like Big Wheel and Big Man.

On the whole it’s a tried and true set-up for a Spider-Man story—the perils of leading a double life, making sacrifices to do the right thing, all that jazz. But that does also mean it’s a story we’ve seen an awful lot of times before, not only across films, TV, and comics, but also in the previous two games in this series. One of them is the ability to glide – after launching themselves into the air, Peter and Miles can cover long distances without needing to keep using their webs. They can use aerodynamic tunnels scattered throughout New York to do so. Other than that, they have one exclusive skill tree each, making for three in total. Other skills include chaining lightning or releasing lightning bursts.

The part that feels like it actually needed a radical rethinking is the open world of New York City, which has been made bigger but not better, with an exhausting checklist of mostly repetitious side activities. The gameplay builds on the foundation established by its predecessors, with an emphasis on the multiple play styles offered by Peter Parker and Miles Morales as Spider-Men.
